Library Music

The music collection primarily supports the educational and research needs of the Shepherd School of Music. Materials collected in support of the music program also serve as a resource for all Rice University faculty, staff and students, as well as the wider Houston community. The focus is on the western classical music tradition, although there are materials relating to jazz, folk music, musical theater, and ethnomusicology. All patrons with a Rice picture ID can check music materials out of the library, and everyone is welcome to use our materials within the library.
Update on the Music Library: On March 17th, 2006 the Music Library will close to the public to remain in storage until January 18th, 2007, the start of next spring semester, when the new Ruth Lilly Music Library is scheduled to open in the new Music Building being constructed on Talbot Avenue.
